Who hasn't received an email directing them to visit a familiar website where they are being asked to update their personal information? The website needs you to verify or update your passwords, credit card numbers, social security number, or even your bank account number. You recognize the business name as one that you've conducted business with in the past. So, you click on the convenient take me there link and proceed to provide all the information they have requested.

Phishing - How to Avoid Getting Caught

What is Phishing?

With so many of us online nowadays, it's inevitable that criminals familiar with computer technology have found ways to take advantage of it to make money. The Internet is almost impossible to police, as it crosses so many international borders, and criminals can operate basically from anywhere there's power and an internet connection. Phishing is just one of many schemes thought up by criminal minds to part us from our money.

To Spam or Spamming is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages, which are generally undesired. The most widely recognized form of spam is Email Spam: otherwise referred to as Unsolicited Bulk Email or Junk email. Email Spam is both unsolicited by the recipient and sent in substantially identical form to many recipients simultaneously or over a period of time. Spam or Junk email can be either commercial mail such as an advertisement or noncommercial such as a chain letter or a joke.

Spam are annoying emails from persons or organisations who are trying to sell a product or service. Since the internet has gained popularity, spam has become an increasing problem for those who use the internet often. Many mailboxes now offer email spam blocker software that will mail all unidentified email to a person's bulk email folder. This will free up space in their main folder and also allow a person to delete what they don't want faster. Email spam blockers are available for instant download at very affordable prices.

A computer virus can hurt a computer in many ways. A virus can disable necessary computer programs and cause it to run slowly, disable the firewall, and may even cause a computer to shut down. There are many ways a computer can catch a virus. Web sites that are unsecured are prime targets. Downloading information from these sites many allow a virus to enter a computer. Another way is through email. Spam blockers can help keep email that might be infected from being opened by placing it in a bulk folder. While some viruses are not dangerous, some can cause serious damage.

Unfortunately, many spammers are not only sending advertisements to sell products. They are also sending email in the hopes of obtaining personal information.

Spam is malicious. It is not just annoying, but it can wreak havoc on your computer (not to mention your nerves) as long as you are connected to the internet. The fact is that spam does more than just send a few emails here and there.
